(Canton, N.Y.)- Over 100 runners and walkers turned out for the 9th Annual Nicole E. Fleury Memorial Scholarship 5K Walk/Run on Sept. 23 at SUNY Canton.

The run is held in memory of former SUNY Canton standout athlete Nicole Fleury who tragically lost her life in a car accident during her senior year.

All the participants were able to take advantage of the newly renovated trails that run behind campus and along the river. This past summer the college did extensive work on the trails in anticipation of the start of the men’s and women’s cross country teams in the fall and other events like the Nicole Run.

“This is always a very special day for us and the Fleury family,” said SUNY Canton athletic director Diane Para. “It was terrific to see so many people participate and to be able to run and walk on one of the most beautiful trails in the area”.

Cindy Lauzon of Potsdam was the overall female winner finishing in a time of 20:48 and SUNY Canton Director of Admission Jonathan Kent was the overall male winner in a time of 17:33. Click below for all the winners of the run.
