Teresa Minckler has served as the
Director of the Fitness Center since August 2005. Teresa has a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training from UNC-Pembroke and a
Masters in Teaching from SUNY Potsdam.
Missy West is the Assistant Fitness Center Director. Missy has a
Bachelor of
Science degree in Sociology from Duke University. She is also a
certified Personal Trainer through NSCA. The Fitness Center is also
staffed by part-time evening supervisors and students. Teresa and
her staff encourage members to ask their fitness-related
questions. They are happy to help in any way possible to make
your fitness goals a reality.
About the Center

The SUNY Canton Fitness Center,
containing over 15 pieces of cardio equipment less than 3 years
old, more than 30 Cybex circuit training and free weight
stations, new cardio-theater capability and a full-time staff, offers
the College community and surrounding community a state-of-the-art
fitness facility with something for everyone. The Fitness
Center’s mission is to provide a safe and friendly workout environment,
while offering professional help and services which encourage and
promote health and self-motivation.
Equipment

At the Fitness Center you will find a complete 11-station Cybex circuit, a Cybex modular cable unit and free weights and racks. Our cardiovascular machines, most of which are new, include four treadmills, five elliptical cross-trainers, two steppers, three bikes, an ArcTrainer, a rower, and a stepmill.
The cardiovascular area is equipped with four TVs and a Cardio Theater system. Surrounding the equipment is a circular walking area.
Membership and Orientation
Fees for community memberships are listed below.
Membership for full-time students is included as part of their college
bill and students can become members upon completion of an
orientation. All new members must complete an orientation session
before being allowed to use the facility. Sessions last approximately
30 minutes.

**The membershp fee for full-time students is included in the college bill for fall and spring semesters. Summer memberships for full and part-time students are a separate fee payable at the front desk of the Fitness Center
***Faculty/Staff/Retiree membership fee includes spouses and dependent children, ages 15 and over, who are covered under employee's insurance plan
Special Programs
Throughout the year, the Fitness Center offers a variety of programming when available, including fitness classes and a senior citizens program. Personal training is available for a fee. Please call 386-7989 for more information about current programming.

Friday: 6 a.m.-6 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Sunday: Closed
