(Troy, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team saw their season come to a close on Saturday as they lost to No. 2 North Country Community College 7-2 in the semifinals of the Region III Tournament at Hudson Valley Community College.

The No.3 Northstars end the year at 14-13-1 while the Saints move on to play top-seeded Monroe Community College in the championship on Sunday.

SUNY Canton struggled to stay out of the penalty box and North County took advantage as five of their goals were on the power play. The other two Saints goals were scored short-handed.

Brian Sharkey (Oswego, N.Y.) scored both goals for the Northstars. His first came on the power play with 1:13 left in the second period. Sharkey's second came 52 seconds into the third period, also on the power play.

Steve Donnelly (Mississauga, Ontario) had two assists and Mark Talamo (Oswego, N.Y.) had one.

Dustin Deleel (Massena, N.Y.) concluded his stellar career with 27 saves in net.

Brent Caldwell, Patrick Tremblay and Matt Becker each scored two goals with one assist. Chris Lambertson had 21 saves and Mike Prifold had two.
