(Troy, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team skated to a 6-6 tie against Erie Community College at the Region III Showcase in Troy, N.Y.. All seven Region III teams plus County College of Morris (N.J.) are particpating in the two-day event at Hudson Valley Community College. The Roos will play Mohawk Valley Community College on Sunday at 11 a.m.

The Roos (5-4-2 Region III, 7-5-2 overall), playing their first game since the mid-semester break, trailed 2-1 after the first period and 4-2 after the second period. But SUNY Canton rallied with four goals in the final period, including the last two of the game to salvage the tie.

Mark Talamo (Oswego, N.Y.), Scott Zaryski (Oswego, N.Y.) and Kyle Simonds (Binghamton, N.Y.) each had a goal and assist for SUNY Canton. Eric Cook (Cary, N.C.), Dan Don (Gouverneur, N.Y.) and Rick Simone (Marcy, N.Y.) also scored, Mike Pearman (Anaheim, Calif.) contributed two assists and Brandon Mahler (Malone, N.Y.) had 27 saves.

Nicholas Pawlowski scored twice for the Kats (3-4-1, 5-5-1) who also tied Hudson Valley 3-3 Friday night. Jacob Ciulla added a goal and two assists and Adam Palumbo recorded 26 saves.
