Small logo(Buffalo, N.Y.)- Mark Stewart (Gansevoort, N.Y.) scored two goals to lead the SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team to a 4-3 win over Erie Community College Saturday night in Buffalo.

The win was the first for first-year head Coach Eric McCambly as the Roos improved to 1-1 in Region III and 1-2 overall.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first period as both teams traded goals eight minutes apart. Stewart opened the scoring at the 11:37 mark off an assist to Mike Pearman (Anaheim, Calif.). The Kats (1-1, 1-3) equaled the score when Jeffrey Monnin scored with one second left in the period.

Monnin scored his second goal of the game 3:20 into the second period unassisted and then Pearman tied the game for the Roos with an unassisted tally of his own three minutes later.

Erie took their final lead of the night at the 13:26 mark of the second on a power play goal from Bruce Sage.
Stewart then notched his second goal at the 15:08 mark of the second period to tie the game for the third time and then Kyle Simonds (Binghamton, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal, unassisted on the power play with one tick on the clock.

Brandon Mahler (Malone, N.Y.) stopped 22 of the 25 shots he faced for SUNY Canton and Adam Palumbo had 28 saves for Erie.
