(Saranac Lake, N.Y.)- SUNY Canton skated to a 4-4 tie against North Country Community College Tuesday night in a Region III men's ice hockey game in Saranac Lake.

The Roos (5-2-1 Region III, 7-3-1 overall) jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Nick Montour (Akwesasne, N.Y.) and Mike Pearman (Anaheim, Calif.) scored in the first six minutes of the game.

The Saints (3-2-1, 6-3-1) rallied back to tie the game on goals from Patrick Tremblay and Colin Port.

Both teams traded goals in the second and third periods. Mark Stewart (Gansevoort, N.Y.) scored in the second period for the Roos at the 2:17 mark and then Port tied the game with his second goal at the 8:40 mark.

In the final period the Saints went ahead 4-3 following a goal from Matt Becker at the 6:38 mark. Colin Lapointe-Potter (Norwood, N.Y.) then forced overtime when he scored a power play goal at the 10:24 mark.

In the extra session North Country out shot the Roos 5-0.

Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) had 41 saves for SUNY Canton while Dan Earles stopped 25 shots for the Saints.
