(Troy, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team saw their three-game winning streak stopped on Sunday as they lost to Hudson Valley Community College 5-2 in Troy.

Both teams traded goals in the first period. Pat Otwell (Orchard Park, N.Y.) put the Roos (8-5-2 Region III, 12-7-2) up 1-0 when he scored from Sam Rooney (Ellington, Conn.) at the 17:16 mark. The Vikings tied the game two minutes later on a goal from Paul Chamberlain.

SUNY Canton went back head when Mark Talamo (Oswego, N.Y.) scored at 13:43 of the second period. Chamberlain again tied the game with his second goal with 2:24 left in the period.

Hudson Valley then dominated the third period with three straight goals.

Otwell and Colin LaPointe-Potter (Norwood, N.Y.) assisted on Talamo's goal and Brandon Mahler (Malone, N.Y.) registered 22 saves.

Maverick Erickson added a goal and three assist for Hudson Valley. Adam Rakoczy and Ben Norris also scored and Jonathan Morales had 25 saves.
