Roos Tripped Up By Oswego State 5-3
(Canton, N.Y.)- Oswego State scored two goals a minute apart late
in the third period to pull away for 5-3 win over the SUNY Canton men's
ice hockey team Friday night at the Canton Pavilion.
The Roos (12-8-2) trailed 2-1 after two periods but had a five-on-three advantage to start the third period. Just after the first penalty expired Scott Zaryski (Oswego, N.Y.) fired in a blast from the top to tie the game just 47 seconds in. Pat Otwell (Orchard Park, N.Y.) then scored at the 6:54 mark from Rick Simone (Marcy, N.Y.) and Mike Pearman (Anaheim, Calif.) to give the Roos their first lead of the game.
Jamie Shutt tied the game for the Lakers at the 10:32 mark and then with 5:05 remaining in regulation Oswego went ahead for good on Tim Rinck's second goal of the night. Shutts then tallied his second goal a minute later to ice the game.
Eric Cook (Cary, N.C.) also scored for SUNY Canton and Brandon Mahler (Malone, N.Y.) had 27 saves.
Chase Collins added a goal for the Lakers and Greg Feiden recorded 27 saves.
