Men's Ice Hockey Beats Scranton 7-2 In First
ACHA Game
(Scranton, Pa.)- Seven different players scored for SUNY Canton as they made a successful debut in the American Collegiate Hockey Association Friday night with a 7-2 win over the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The Roos joined the ACHA this past year and opened their season Friday night.
The Roos (1-0) scored four first-period goals, including two on the power play, to take control of the game.
Sophomores Pat Otwell (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and Garrett Rosenbaum (Charleston, S.C.) and freshman Dan Cibelli (Liverpool, N.Y.) each had a goal and an assist to lead SUNY Canton. Sophomore Kevin Moro (Congers, N.Y.) scored his first career goal and freshmen Eric Randall (Tonawanda, N.Y.), Darren Camp (Canton, N.Y.) and Joel Cardinal-Shultz (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) also scored once.
Sophomore Mark Stewart (Gansevoort, N.Y.) and junior Dan Don (Gouverneur, N.Y.) each contributed two assists.
Sophomre Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) stopped 39 of the 41 shots he faced.
Phil Furtak and Matt Torstrup each scored for Scranton and Justin Lucas had 23 saves.
