Small logo Roos Win 12th Straight With 4-2 Win Over Syracuse

(Syracuse, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team continued to roll as they won their second game of the weekend and 12th straight beating Syracuse University 4-2 Saturday night in Syracuse. The Roos are now 6-2 in the Eastern Collegiate Hockey League and 16-5 overall.

The score was tied 1-1 after the first period and then tied at 2-2 heading into the third period before the Roos knocked in two goals in the final period to keep their winning streak alive.

Syracuse opened the scoring in the first period at the 8:43 mark when Mike Dillane scored unassisted. The Roos tied the score 20 seconds later when Garrett Rosenbaum (Charleston, S.C.) scored from Dan Cibelli (Liverpool, N.Y.) and Eric Cook (Cary, N.C.).

SUNY Canton took their first lead of the game at the 10:47 mark of the second period off a goal from Pat Otwell (Orchard Park, N.Y.). With 52 seconds left in the second period Syracuse tied the score again when Dillane netted his second goal of the night.

Dan Don (Gouverneur, N.Y.) then scored his third game-winning goal of the year 15 seconds into the final period to send the Roos to the win. Kevin O'Connell (Cadyville, N.Y.) added an insurance goal with 2:08 left in regulation.

Rosenbaum also had an assist in the game and Mark Talamo (Oswego, N.Y.) supplied two assists.

Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) improved to 9-2 stopping 32 of 34 shots in goal for the Roos.

Marc Liner recorded 29 saves for Syracuse.
