(Canton, N.Y.)- SUNY Canton scored two goals in a span of five minutes in the second period to edge out the University of Buffalo 2-1 in an Eastern Collegiate Hockey League game Friday night at the Canton Pavilion. The Roos ran their winning streak to five games and improved to 4-2 in league play and 9-5 overall.

After a scoreless first period SUNY Canton took a 1-0 lead 2:56 into the second period when Joel Cardinal-Shultz (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) scored from Adam Levy (Penfield, N.Y.) and Rob Liggio (Canton, N.Y.). At the 7:27 mark Sam Rooney (Ellington, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal on the power play off Liggio's second assist of the night.

The Bulls trimmed the lead to one with a power play goal of their own. Vinny Caputi scored at the 12:20 mark from Kevin Fisher but that's as close as they would come as the Roos killed off a late third period penalty and held off the Bulls when they pulled goalie Brian Forbes for an extra skater with under a minute left in regulation.

Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) had 20 saves in goal for the Roos and Forbes finished with 30 saves for the Bulls.
