Roos Roll Over Daniel Webster 6-1
(Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team scored just eight seconds into the game and never looked back as they cruised to a 6-1 win over Daniel Webster College in the first round of the Terry Martin / SUNY Canton Pride's Corner Tournament at the Canton Pavilion. The Roos have now won seven straight games improving to 11-5 and will face the the University of New England who beat Penn State-Berks 5-4 in the other first-round game.
The Roos won the opening faceoff to start the game and Mark Stewart (Gansevoort, N.Y.) promptly scored unassisted, his first of two goals, to put SUNY Canton ahead 1-0. The Roos scored twice more in the first period, both off the stick of Joel Cardinal-Shultz (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan), to a take a 3-0 lead into the locker room. Cardinal-Shultz's first goal came at the 7:03 mark and his second with 41 seconds left in the period.
Garrett Rosenbaum (Charleston, S.C.) and Ryan Clayton (Youngstown, N.Y.) also scored for the Roos. Adamy Levy (Penfield, N.Y.) had three assists and Stewart, Rosenbaum and Clayton each added one to their goals.
Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) stopped nine shots through 51 minutes and Chris Lee (Gansevoort, N.Y.) had four saves in the final nine minutes of the third period in his first action of the year.
Matt Collette scored for the Eagles and Eric Burgess had 37 saves in goal.

New England Holds Off Penn State-Berks 5-4
(Canton, N.Y.)- The University of New England downed Penn State-Berks 5-4 in the semifinals of the 1st Annual Terry Martin/SUNY Canton Pride's Corner Tournament at the Canton Pavilion.
Jack Nolin scored three goals for the Nor'easeters who improved to 4-2-1. Kyle Mclennan and Eric Hines also scored and Tony Dube stopped 17 shots in goal.
Mike Christie, Sean Zelachowski, Brandon Pike and Shane Allen each scored for the Blue Lions who dropped to 10-3-1. Chris Leffler recorded 16 saves in goal.
