Men's Ice Hockey Beats Buffalo 3-1 To Win
Tournament Championship
(Buffalo, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team wrapped up the first semester on Saturday with their 10th straight win as they won the University of Buffalo Tournament with a 3-1 win over host Buffalo. The Roos are now 14-5 and are off until January 10th when they play at Syracuse University.
Both teams scored in the second period on Saturday and then the Roos pulled out the win with a pair of goals in the third period.
Dan Don (Gouverneur, N.Y.) opened the scoring at the 8:14 mark of the second period with his second goal of the tournament off an assist to Rob Liggio (Canton, N.Y.). Buffalo tied the game six minutes later off a goal from Kevin Fishcher.
Mark Talamo (Oswego, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal nine minutes into the third period from Andrew Royce (Somers, Conn.). Dan Cibelli (Liverpool, N.Y.) added an insurance goal at the 14:44 mark for the Roos off assists from Sam Rooney (Ellington, Conn.) and Mike Pearman (Columbus, Ind.).
Dustin Deleel (Massena, N.Y.) won his second game of the tournament turning aside 27 of the 28 shots he faced in goal.
Nicholas Edson had 41 saves for Buffalo.
