Roos Down Villanova For 15th Win in a Row

(Canton, N.Y.)- It was home sweet home for the SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team as they played their first home game since November and remained a perfect 7-0 at the Canton Pavilion with a 5-3 win over Villanova University Friday night. The win was the 15th-straight for the Roos as they improved to 19-5 overall.
SUNY Canton has scored five goals in each of their last three games and outshot the Wildcats 32-22 on Friday.
The Roos led 2-1 after the first period. Rob Liggio (Canton, N.Y.) opened the scoring when he stuffed in a shot at the 6:06 mark. After Villanova tied the score at the 10:53 mark, Mark Talamo (Oswego, N.Y.) netted his first of two goals to give the Roos the lead at the break.
The Wildcats scored the only goal of the second period off the stick of Lee Zoeller at the 16:44 mark, his first of two goal on the night.
SUNY Canton went back ahead 7:25 into the third period when Joel Cardinal-Shultz (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) scored unassisted. The Wildcats battled back and Josh Horton tied the game at the 11:02 mark of the final period. Talamo then scored his team-leading fifth game-winning goal of the season on the power play at the 12:37 mark. Garrett Rosenbaum (Charleston, S.C.) added an insurance goal with an unassisted blast from the top of the right face-off circle with 3:21 left in regulation.
Freshman Chris Lee (Gansevoort, N.Y.) made his first career start and recorded his first career win with 19 saves.
James Carrig had 27 saves for the Wildcats.
