Roos Rout RIT 8-1 For 17th Straight Win

(Canton, N.Y.)-Mike Pearman (Columbus, Ind.) and Darren Camp (Canton, N.Y.) each scored twice and four other players scored one goal as the SUNY Canton men’s ice hockey team routed RIT 8-1 for their 17th straight win Friday night at the Canton Pavilion. The Roos are now 21-5 overall.
The Roos led 2-1 after the first period and then poured in three goals in both the second and third periods. Two of the goals in the final period came in the last minute of play.
Mark Talamo (Oswego, N.Y.) opened the scoring for SUNY Canton on the Roos first shift just 29 seconds into the game. Andrew Royce (Somers, Conn.) then scored at the 4:34 mark of the first which would turn out to be the game winning goal.
Camp, Pearman and Adam Levy (Penfield, N.Y.) scored in the second period. Pearman and Camp would score again in the third period, Camp's goal coming with 53 seconds left. Rob Liggio (Canton, N.Y.) capped off the scoring with a goal with 15 seconds left in regulation.
Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) stopped 15 of the 16 shots he face in goal. Dan Cibelli (Liverpool, N.Y.) had four assists. Kevin Moro (Congers, N.Y.) had two helpers and Camp and Royce each had one.
Jeremy Sims tallied the lone goal for the Tigers and Andrew Miller had 25 saves.
