Roos Cruise Past Mercyhurst 11-6

(Erie, Pa.)- The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey scored seven unanswered first period goals and cruised past Mercyhurst College 11-6 Saturday afternoon in Erie, Pa. The Roos improved to 2-0 in the Eastern Collegiate Hockey League and 2-3 overall.
Adam Fedor (Orleans, Ontario) scored twice during that first period onslaught and finished with three goals in the game.
Jeremiah Hardin (Alpharetta, Ga.) added two goals and an assist. John Payne (Port Moody, B.C.) also scored twice. Eric Cook (Cary, N.C.) contributed a goal and two assists. Andrew Royce (Somers, Conn.) and Dan Cibelli (Liverpool, N.Y.) each had a goal and an assist. Dan Don (Gouverneur, N.Y.) had a single goal and Mark Talamo (Oswego, N.Y.) chipped in with three assists.
Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) played the first 50 minutes in goal and stopped 27 of 30 shots. Chris Lee (Gansevoort, N.Y.) played the final 10 minutes and stopped six shots.
Josh Mandic had three goals and three assists to lead Mercyhurst. Shane Vorndren also had three goals. Alex Larrson-Wahlman played the first and third periods and had 25 saves while allowing 10 goals. Eric Engel gave up one goal in the second period and finished with 10 saves.
