Roos Tripped Up By Potsdam 3-1 in First Ever Meeting

(Potsdam, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton and SUNY Potsdam men's ice hockey teams met for the first time Tuesday night and the Bears skated to a 3-1 win. SUNY Canton is now 2-4 overall.
The Roos, who were out shot 44-23, took a 1-0 lead early in the second period.
Senior defenseman Kevin O'Connell (Cadyville, N.Y.) scored his first goal of the season when he tallied a power play goal at the 3:25 mark of the second period. Garrett Rosenbaum (Charleston, S.C.) and Andrew Royce (Somers, Conn.) assisted on the goal.
The Bears answered with a power play goal of their own three minutes later off the stick of Connor Treacy. The Bears pumped in one more goal before the end of the second and one more in the third for the final margin. Colin MacLennan and Spencer Noyes also scored for the Bears and Trevor O'Neil had 23 saves on 24 shots.
Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) had 44 saves on 47 shots for the Roos.
