Roos Trounce #23 Buffalo 7-3

(Amherst, N.Y.)- Scott Zaryski (Oswego, N.Y.) helped the SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team stop a two-game slide by trouncing No. 23 University of Buffalo 7-3 Saturday night in Amherst. The Roos are now 3-1 in the Eastern Collegiate Hockey League and 3-6 overall.

Zaryski, a senior defenseman, scored three power play goals Saturday night for the hat trick. Two of Zaryski's goals came in the first period where the Roos jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Zaryski's third goal came at the 7:48 mark of the second period that made the score 5-0 SUNY Canton.

That lead would swell to 6-0 after Brad Wilson (Ottawa, Ontario) scored at the 8:12 mark of the second period.

Buffalo finally got on the board with two goals to end the second stanza. Ken Wojnowski scored at the 12:03 mark and Kevin Fisher knocked in a goal with one minute remaining in the period.

Both teams traded goals in the final period as Matt Ganci scored for Buffalo and Dan Cibelli (Liverpool, N.Y.) answered for the Roos.

Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) had 26 saves for SUNY Canton.

Nick Edson had 10 saves in the first period and Rich Latona had 13 saves in the second and third periods.
