The Northstars (1-0) were playing their first game in the Canton Pavilion in over a year after the rink closed last season for repairs to the floor.

The Northstars scored three more times in the second period, including two from Simone and one from Maik Tatavosian (Irvine, Calif.), and then Andrew Rak scored 14 seconds into the third period unassisted for the final score.

Chase also had an assist for SUNY Canton and Nick Emmick (Richford, N.Y.) and Kyle Gadway (Champlain, N.Y.) had two assists each.

David Rile and Lance Branch also scored for St. Lawrence and Walter Scherer stopped 34 shots in goal.
