(Canton, N.Y.)-It was home sweet home for the SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team as they played their first game at the Canton Pavilion in over three weeks on Saturday and they responded with a 13-1 win over Broome Community College.

The Northstars had played their last six games on the road before Saturday and with the win improved to 5-2-1 overall. The game will not count in the Region III standings because Broome is playing as a club team for the second straight year.

SUNY Canton out shot the Hornets 59-20, they scored 11 of their goals over the final two periods and received at least one goal from 10 different players.

Kyle Laurie (Canton, N.Y.), Rick Simone (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) and Tyler Nary (Painted Post, N.Y.) each scored two goals and had one assist to lead the Northstars.

Ian Vanier (Malone, N.Y.), Jaques DeMars (Vermontville, N.Y.), Anthony Gruppo (Williamsville, N.Y.), Jeremy Kolb (Rush, N.Y.), Maik Tatavosian (Irvine, Calif.) and Matt Bailey (Parishville, N.Y.) each had a goal and an assist and Kyle Gadway (Champlain, N.Y.) chipped in with a goal and two assists.

Spencer Utman (Brockville, N.Y.) started in goal for SUNY Canton and stopped all 10 shots he faced over the first two periods. Tony Natoli (Cortland, N.Y.) made his first appearance of the year and turned aside nine of 10 shots in the third period.

Robert Shepherd scored the Hornets (0-5) lone goal off assists from Josh Lewis and Tyler Harner and Jordan Doshier and Charles Winhoffer combined to make 46 saves in goal.
