The Northstars (3-0-1 overall, 0-0-1 Region III) recovered from a 3-0 deficit with five straight goals from the end of the first period into the second to take a 5-3 lead. The Kats (2-1-1, 1-1-1) countered with two more goals late in the second period to salvage the tie.

Nick Emmick (Richford, N.Y.) scored two goals for SUNY Canton. Matt Bailey (Parishville, N.Y.) had three assists, Matt Battaglini (Endicott, N.Y.), Ian Vanier (Malone, N.Y.), and Adam Levy (Penfield, N.Y.) also scored and Spencer Utman (Brockville, Ontario) made 35 saves in goal.

Jeremy Lang, Steven LaTona and Wade Gault each had a goal and an assist for Erie.
