(Binghamton, N.Y.)- Kyle Laurie (Canton, N.Y.) and Matt
Bailey (Parishville, N.Y.) each scored a goal and an assist and Dustin
Deleel (Massena, N.Y.) had 21 saves as the SUNY Canton men’s ice hockey
team blanked Broome Community College 4-0 Saturday afternoon in
Binghamton.
Deleel had 11 saves in the second period and five in both the first and third periods to record his second shutout of the season.
The Northstars (7-7-1) opened the scoring 1:46 into the game when Bailey scored from Laurie and Nick Emmick (Richford, N.Y.). SUNY Canton then found themselves on a 5 on 3 advantage with 8:31 left in the first period and they capitalized when Ian Vanier (Malone, N.Y.) scored from Adam Levy (Penfield, N.Y.) and Matt Battaglini (Endicott, N.Y.).
After a scoreless second period the Northstars tacked on two more goals in the final period to beat Broome for the second time this season. Adam Gadway (Champlain, N.Y.) scored from Anthony Gruppo (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Pat Semeraro (Cortland, N.Y.) at the 9:20 mark and then Laurie capped off the scoring at the 8:46 mark on assists to Emmick and Bailey.
Matt DeSauteis had a busy day in goal for the Hornets as he finished
with 41 saves.
