(Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team saw
their four-game unbeaten streak come to an end as they lost to North
Country Community College 6-3 Wednesday night at the Canton
Pavilion. The Northstars fell to 9-8-2 overall and 3-4-1 in
Region III while the Saints moved to 13-5-2 and 9-2 in the region.
Pat Semeraro (Cortland, N.Y.) opened the scoring for SUNY Canton with his fourth goal in the last two games at the 4:13 mark of the first period on assists to Adam Levy (Penfield, N.Y.) and Jeff Kasprzak (Baldwinsville, N.Y.). Kyle Laurie then made it a 2-0 lead when he scored from Austin Chase (Newport Beach, Calif.) and Matt Bailey (Parishville, N.Y.) at the 5:04 mark of the second period.
The Saints then scored five unanswered goals up to the 17:55 mark of the third period before Levy scored a power play goal from Laurie with 48 seconds left in the game. North Country added an empty net goal with 28 seconds remaining for the final score.
Dustin Deleel (Massena, N.Y.) had 32 saves in goal for SUNY Canton while Alex Rundlof made 24 for the Saints.
Steve Atkins scored three goals and set up another for North
Country. Ryan Fraser added two goals and Jordan Stitt had one
goal and two assists.
