Small logo (Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie against Morrisville State College Saturday afternoon at the Canton Pavilion.  The Northstars are now 9-8-3 overall and 3-4-2 in Region III while the Mustangs moved to 9-7-3 and 6-1-2 in the region.

Dustin Deleel (Massena, N.Y.) had arguably his best game with the Northstars as the freshman goalie recorded a career-high 48 saves and turned aside numerous scoring chances from the Mustangs, especially in the second and third periods and in overtime.  Morrisville out shot the Northstars 50-22 for the game including 6-0 in the extra session.

Nick Emmick (Richford, N.Y.) put the Northstars up 1-0 with a power play goal at 11:26 of the first period after two nice touch passes from Austin Chase (Newport Beach, Calif.) and Kyle Laurie (Canton, N.Y.).  SUNY Canton then took a 2-0 lead at the 15:31 mark when Jeremy Kolb (Rush, N.Y.) scored a short-handed goal from Adam Levy (Penfield, N.Y.).  For Kolb it was the freshman's second short-handed goal of the season.

The Mustangs stepped up their pressure in the second period firing 18 shots on goal.  They trimmed the lead to 2-1 at the 3:48 mark when Ryan Weigand scored a power play goal from Chris Cacace and Matt Polak.  Then with goalie Brett Freese pulled for an extra skater, Morrisville State tied the game with 21 second left in regulation on a goal from Dana Calderone.  Polak and Nick Carelli asssisted on the goal.

Freese finished with 20 saves for the Mustangs.
