Small logo (Utica, N.Y.)- Kyle Laurie (Canton, N.Y.) scored one goal and set up two others leading the SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team to a 4-1 win over Mohawk Valley Community College Tuesday night in Utica.  The Northstars improved to 10-8-3 overall and 4-4-2 in Region III while the Hawks dropped to 9-12 overall and 1-9 in the region.

Dustin Deleel (Massena, N.Y.) recorded 26 saves as SUNY Canton held a 44-27 advantage in shots.  Norm Seakan took the loss for the Hawks finishing with 40 saves.

Andrew Rak (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) scored his second goal of the season for the Northstars with five minutes left in the first period from Laurie and Nick Emmick (Richford, N.Y.).  Rick Simone (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) then made it 2-0 four minutes later scoring from Laurie and Pat Semeraro (Cortland, N.Y.).

Mike Chiellino trimmed the lead in half a minute into the second period when he was credited with a goal that deflected off a Northstars stick and past Deleel.  The Northstars got one back at the 8:40 mark when Jeremy Kolb (Rush, N.Y.) connected from Emmick and Matt Bailey (Parishville, N.Y.) and then Laurie completed the scoring with his 15th goal of the year on assists from Kolb and Anthony Gruppo (Williamsville, N.Y.) with 3:23 left in the second period.
