Roos Drop Doubleheader to SUNYIT 5-4, 13-3
(Utica, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's baseball team lost to SUNYIT 5-4 and 13-3 in a doubleheader in Utica on Thursday.
Matt Holcomb (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) ripped a pair of hits in game one for the Roos (0-8). Brandon Mahler (Malone, N.Y.) and Dominic Creazzo (Massena, N.Y.) each went 1-for-2 with an RBI for the Roos. Anthony Brauchle (Clay, N.Y.) pitched 5 innings and allowed two hits and one run. Jeff Laduca (Syracuse, N.Y.) gave up two runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings of work and Lucky McFadden (Cortland Manor, N.Y.) allowed two runs on three its in 2/3 innings of work.
Chris Fratini and Justin Marsden each went 2-for-3 for the Wildcats. Fratini had a triple and Marsden had a double. Adam Shea allowed three runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings. Justin Van Gorden surrendered one run on one hit in 1 1/3 innings.
In the nightcap the Wildcats scored seven runs in the first three innings to pull away for the sweep. Ty Brodt went 4-for-4 and drove in three run for SUNYIT. Ben Bushey and Anthony DeSarro each added three RBIs. Ethan Marr allowed one run on two hits in four innings. Neilan Lawrence and Jason Culver gave up two runs on five hits the rest of the way.
Creazzo ripped an RBI double for the Roos
and six other players had a single. Kyle Kearney (Fayetteville, N.Y.)
surrendered seven runs on six hits in three innings. Jerome Branagan
(Croghan, N.Y.) gave up six runs on six hits in two innings and McFadden
pitched the final inning for the Roos and did not allow a hit or a run.
