Small logo Roos No. 4 Seed in Conference Tournament

(Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton baseball team will head to Lynn, Mass. this weekend for the 2009 Sunrise Conference baseball tournament.

The Roos (4-12) earned the No. 4 seed after sweeping the College of St. Joseph in two doubleheaders last weekend. The Roos put up 64 runs in those four games. SUNY Canton will play regular season champions and top-seed Fisher College at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 24. No. 2 University of Maine at Presque Isle will play No. 3 Vermont Technical College in the other first round game.

The loser's bracket game will be on Saturday, April 25 at 10 a.m. and the winner's bracket game at 2 p.m. The winner of the loser's bracket and the loser of the winner's bracket will play at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The final games will be on Sunday, April 26 at 1 p.m. between the winner of the last game on Saturday and the winner of the winner's bracket. If necessary a second game will be played 30 minutes after conclusion of the first game on Sunday.

The winner of the Sunrise Conference tournament will advance to a national qualifier against the winner of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The best two out of three games will be played on May 5, 6 and 7 if needed at Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania.

The winner of the qualifier receives an automatic berth in the opening round of the NAIA national tournament which will be played at nine different sites around the country. The national tournament starts on May 12.
