Small logo Roos Fall to Presque Isle 5-1 and 2-1 in Staten Island

(Staten Island, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton baseball team wrapped up their weekend in Staten Island losing a pair of games to the University of Maine at Presque Isle 5-1 and 2-1. The Roos fell to 0-4 overall and in the Sunrise Conference while the Owls improved to 4-0 and 4-8.

Senior Adam Levy (Penfield, N.Y.) and sophomore Nate Besaw (Massena, N.Y.) accounted for both SUNY Canton runs in almost identical fashion. In each game Levy singled, stole second and then was driven in by RBI singles from Besaw.

Levy also pitched all six innings in game one allowing five hits and one walk with three strikeouts.

Sophomore Jeff LaDuca (Syracuse, N.Y.) went the distance in the nightcap for SUNY Canton giving up five hits and no walks with one strikeout in six innings.

Corey Harding pitched the win for the Owls in game one as he recorded seven strikeouts and allowed five hits and one walk in seven innings. Brandon Elie tossed a complete game in the nightcap as he fanned five batters and surrendered just four hits and no walks.

Tyson Tash ripped a double, drove in two runs and scored once for Presque Isle in the opener. Harding also had an RBI. A.J. Pennartz went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run in the second game and James Cirell drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
