Roos Fall to Fisher 9-2 and 11-1

(Haverhill, Mass.)- The SUNY Canton baseball team lost two games to Fisher College Saturday at Haverhill Stadium in Haverhill, Mass. The Roos lost 9-2 and 11-1 in five innings to fall to 0-6 in both the Sunrise Conference and overall. The Falcons improved to 8-0 in the conference and 14-13 overall.
In the first game Jacques DeMars (Vermontville, N.Y.) (left) went 2-for-2 with his first home run of the year to lead the Roos. DeMars deposited a 2-2 pitch over the left field fence in the top of the first inning. Matt Myers (Brandon, Vt.) went 1-for-3 with an RBI double that scored DeMars in the fourth inning for the Roos other run.
Justin Storie (Hammond, N.Y.) allowed 10 hits and three walks and struck out two in six innings for SUNY Canton.
Samuel Luciano tossed a complete game for the Falcons giving up just three hits and three walks with six strikeouts. Last year's Sunrise Conference Player of the Year Tom Englehardt went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs and Jesse Avalos added two hits and two RBIs.
In the nightcap Jeff LaDuca (Syracuse, N.Y.) took the loss for the Roos as he surrendered six hits and four walks with two strikeouts in four innings. Nate Besaw (Massena, N.Y.) went 1-for-2 and scored the Roos only run when he scored off an RBI double by Storie in the first inning.
Kevin Michael fanned five batters and allowed just two hits and one walk for Fisher. Jonathan Olivo walked twice and scored three runs and Zack Thompson had two hits including an RBI double in the second inning.
The two teams will square off again in Haverhill Sunday morning at 10 o’clock.
