Roos Drop 78-73 Overtime Loss To Fisher College
(Boston, Mass.)- The SUNY Canton men's basketball dropped a difficult 78-73 overtime loss to Fisher College Sunday afternoon in Boston.
The Roos (3-7 Sunrise Conference, 4-16 overall) led by seven points several times in the second half after erasing a two-point halftime deficit before the Falcons mounted a late-game comeback.
Fisher eventually led 61-60 with just over a minute left before Charles McCoy (Bronx, N.Y.) hit two free throws to put the Roos back up by one, 62-61.
After the Falcons Treva Holmes missed a layup on their next possession, McCoy hit two more free throws to stretch the lead to three points.
Oscar Brown then missed from long range for Fisher but Holmes corralled the rebound and dished to JJ Holmes who swished home a three to tie the game.
SUNY Canton turned the ball over following a timeout giving the Falcons one last chance. But James Morrison (Paisley, Scotland) was able to slap the ball away from Stephen Rice before he could get a shot off and that sent the game into overtime.
In the extra session Fisher out scored the Roos 14-9 and SUNY Canton missed several 3-pointers in the final 30 seconds of the game.
McCoy finished 6-for-7 from the line and scored a game-high 22 points. He also had 10 rebounds to complete the double-double.
Byron Jones (Glenarden, Md.) added 19 points and two rebounds. Malcolm Morrison (Paisley, Scotland) had 11 points and Wes Schofell (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) chipped in with nine points and five rebounds.
The Falcons were led by Louis Williams who had 20 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Rice finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. JJ Holmes had 13 points and six rebounds and Treva Holmes added a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards.
