Wilson Propels Roos To 87-83 Win Over St. Joseph's

Small logo(Canton, N.Y.)- A Charles McCoy (Bronx, N.Y.) layup with four seconds left proved to be the difference as the SUNY Canton men's basketball team held of the College of St. Joseph 87-83 Sunday afternoon at St. Lawrence University's Burkman Gym. The Roos are now 2-6 in the Sunrise Conference and 3-15 overall while St. Joseph's dropped to 5-3 and 8-9.

The Fighting Saints had rallied from a 13-point second half deficit to take an 83-81 lead following a 3-pointer from Doug Childs with 1:08 left in regulation.

On the Roos next possession Josh Wilson (Chaumont, N.Y.) drilled a long two-pointer to tie the game with 48 seconds left.

Oscar Parada then misfired from beyond the arc with 19 seconds remaining and Wilson corralled the rebound. The freshman drove the length of the court and fed McCoy who drove in from the left wing for the go-ahead basket. The Fighting Saints Rich Bailey then stepped out of bounds advancing the ball up the floor and Che Terrazas (Rosenberg, Texas) sank two free throws to secure the win.

Wilson had a career day with 24 points including five 3-pointers. He also had five rebounds and two steals.

McCoy finished with 21 points, five rebounds and four assists. Byron Jones (Glenarden, Md.) added 17 points, four rebounds and four assists. Andre White (Bronx, N.Y.) contributed a double-double with 12 point and 12 boards and Terrazas ended with seven points and three caroms.

Four Fighting Saints reached double figures led by Childs who had 20 points and three rebounds. Rich Ortega scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Ryan Kimball and Zac Durkee each had 12 points and Tyler Herrington chipped in with 10 points, six rebounds and five assists.
