(Canton, N.Y.)- The men's basketball team announced their 2009 team awards at the athletic department's year-end picnic on May 9.

The Roos Most Valuable Player was junior forward Silvon John (Bronx, N.Y.). John, an all-Sunrise Conference First Team selection, averaged 16.3 points per game and led the Roos in rebounding (11.0) and field goal percentage (.510). He started in all 24 games, hit 66 percent of his free throws and collected 23 steals.

The Most Improved Player was freshman forward Jeff Grenier (Whitehall, N.Y.). The criminal justice major played in all 24 games and started in 13 and averaged 4.6 points and 4.5 rebounds. He shot 49 percent from the floor and had six steals and three blocks.

The Coaches Award went to sophomore guard Josh Wilson (Chaumont, N.Y.). The physical therapy assistant major joined John and Deric Alston (Jacksonville, N.C.) as the only Roos to start in all 24 games. Wilson averaged 6.8 rebounds, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists and shot 73 percent from the free throw line and canned 18 3-pointers.
