(Potsdam, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's basketball team lost to Daemen College 83-60 Tuesday night at Maxcy Hall in Potsdam. The Roos fell to 0-7 while the Wildcats moved to 8-2.

SUNY Canton scored the first five points of the game and built an 11-4 lead with 4:03 gone off the clock. Tony Valentin (Perth Amboy, N.J.) hit a three and Josh Wilson (Chaumont, N.Y.) a running jumper during that stretch. Daemen, who received votes in the latest NAIA Division II national poll, responded with an 11-4 run of their own and eventually led by 41-33 at halftime.

Daemen scored six straight points to start the second half, all coming off steals, and would stretch their lead back to double digits where it would stay for the rest of the half.

Valentin led three Roos in double figures with 17 points and six rebounds.

Isaac Bushey (Lowville, N.Y.) added a season-high 12 points including a pair of 3-pointers. Wilson totaled 11 points and three rebounds and Silvon John (Bronx, N.Y.) and James Morrison (Paisley, Scotland) each contributed eight points apiece.

Three Wildcats reached double figures led by Ajay Rutledge who had 18 points, five steals and four rebounds. Steve Kozaczka had 12 points and six rebounds and M.J. Oridami chipped in with 12 points.
