Small logo Valentin and John Carry Roos Past Presque Isle 106-100

(Presque Isle, Maine)- Tony Valentin (Perth Amboy, N.J.) and Silvon John (Bronx, N.Y.) each scored over 30 points to lead the SUNY Canton men's basketball team to a 106-100 win over the University of Maine at Presque Isle Sunday in Maine. The Roos improved to 2-4 in the conference and 2-14 overall while the Owls fell to 1-4 and 2-11.

Valentin knocked down five 3-pointers and scored 39 points to go along with five assists, four rebounds and two steals. John dropped in 32 points and grabbed 23 rebounds for his third 20-20 game in the last five outings.

The Roos fell behind by double-digits in the first half and trailed by three at the break. Both teams engaged in a shootout in the second half with the Roos outscoring the Owls 61-52 to claim their second conference win this week.

Deric Alston (Jacksonville, N.C.) added 18 points and eight rebounds for the Roos and Jeff Grenier (Whitehall, N.Y.) hit all five of his shots from the field for 12 points and nine rebounds.

Ronald Spencer drained seven 3-pointers and finished with 30 points for Presque Isle. Ben Rosser added 29 points and 16 boards. Jordan Guy had 15 points and Anthony Wingate supplied 12 points and nine assists.
