(Paul Smiths, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's basketball team couldn't overcome a sluggish second half as they lost to Paul Smith's College 73-53 Wednesday night. The Roos are now 2-7 in the Sunrise Conference and 2-16 overall.

The lead switched hands several times in a back-and-forth first half and eventually the Bobcats took a 42-37 lead at halftime. Paul Smith's came out hot in the second half starting with a 9-3 run to open a double-digit lead they would not relinquish the rest of the game. After shooting 51 percent from the floor in the first half, SUNY Canton shot just 20 percent in the second half and 37 percent for the game.

Tony Valentin (Perth Amboy, N.J.) dropped in 20 points and handed out three assists for the Roos.

Silvon John (Bronx, N.Y.) added 10 points and eight rebounds. Josh Wilson (Chaumont, N.Y.) contributed nine points, all coming from beyond the arc, and Deric Alston (Jacksonville, N.C.) chipped in with four points, four rebounds and two assists.

Jimmy Noel had 18 points, eight rebounds and two steals for the Bobcats. Jeff Moore added 15 points and eight boards and Joseph Collura supplied nine points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals.
