Roos Roll Over Presque Isle 94-70

(Potsdam, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's basketball team built a large first-half lead and never looked back as they ended their season with a convincing 94-70 win over the University of Maine at Presque Isle. The Roos swept the Owls and finished the year at 3-11 in the Sunrise Conference and 3-21 overall. Presque Isle dropped to 2-11 and 2-21 overall.
The Roos led 46-27 at halftime while shooting 47 percent from the floor. Tony Valentin (Perth Amboy, N.J.) dropped in 18 of his game-high 26 points in the first half and Silvon John (Bronx, N.Y.) had a double-double by the break with 16 points and 11 rebounds after hitting 7 of 8 shots from the field. For the game Valentin buried four 3-pointers and also had six rebounds and five assists. John finished with 24 points and 18 boards, narrowly missing his fourth 20-20 game this season. It was John's 14th double-double this year.
Deric Alston (Jacksonville, N.C.) turned in a terrific all-around game with 12 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and three steals. Josh Wilson (Chaumont, N.Y.) drilled four 3-pointers and had 12 points, four rebounds and four assists. Jeff Grenier (Whitehall, N.Y.) added nine points and 11 rebounds and Brian Ramsdell (Winthrop, N.Y.) chipped in with seven points and four boards.
The Owls were led by Devon Peaselee who pumped in 20 points and grabbed three rebounds. Jordan Guy supplied 11 points off the bench and Jeremy Brock had 10 points and five rebounds.
