Small logo Roos Come Up Short to St. Joseph 77-68

(Potsdam, N.Y.)- Despite a strong-second half rally the SUNY Canton men's basketball team fell to the College of St. Joseph 77-68 Sunday afternoon at Clarkson University. The Roos are now 2-6 in the Sunrise Conference and 2-16 overall.

SUNY Canton fell behind by 19 points, 51-32, with 11:53 left in the second half. Brian Ramsdell (Winthrop, N.Y.) then caught fire for the Roos hitting four 3-pointers on SUNY Canton's next four possessions to pull the Roos within eight points. But Doug Childs was too much for the Roos down the stretch as he scored eight of his game-high 31 points in the final two minutes.

Ramsdell sank two more threes down the stretch to finish 6 of 9 from beyond the arc for 18 points.

Tony Valentin (Perth Amboy, N.J.) scored a team-high 26 points and passed out seven assists. Silvon John (Bronx, N.Y.) had 15 points and 13 rebounds for his 12th double-double of the year and Josh Wilson (Chaumont, N.Y.) added five points and five rebounds for the Roos.

Childs finished with three treys and was 6-for-7 from the free throw line. He also had six rebounds and three assists. Tyler Herrington added 20 points, eight rebounds and four blocks for St. Joseph and Brad Drysdale chipped in with 11 points and seven boards.
