(Utica, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's cross country team finished in fourth place and the women's team in fifth place at the 1st Annual Pioneer Invitational at Utica College on Saturday. The men recorded 111 points while the women had 130.

Justin Forth (Gouverneur, N.Y.) edged out teammate Ryan Madigan (Scotia, N.Y.) by eight-tenths of a second to finish 13th. Forth ran the race in 29:43.0 and Madigan finished in 29:43.8. Michael Wilbur (Clifton Park, N.Y.) wasn’t too far behind as he finished in 16th place with a time of 29:48.

Leslie Wilson (Rensselaer Falls, N.Y.) led the women's team with a ninth place finish in a time of 21:20. Danielle Mellon (Oneida, N.Y.) finished in 41st place in a time of 23:21 and Katie Ordway (North Creek, N.Y.) finished in 50th place in a time of 24:17.
