Small logo (Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's soccer team kicked off their new era as a four-year athletic program on Saturday against Sunrise Conference opponent Paul Smith's College in Canton. The Roos had a successful debut as members of the NAIA as they captured an impressive 3-0 win over the Bobcats.

All three goals came in the first half for SUNY Canton. Sophomore Alexis Rivas (Bronx, N.Y.) opened the scoring in the 14th minute when he finished off a nice pass from sophomore forward Prince Sabatto (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.). Junior Dennis Salmon (Bronx, N.Y.) then made it 2-0 scoring off a feed from Repton Abrahams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in the 33rd minute. Abrahams completed the scoring when he lofted a high shot from the left wing into the right corner of the net off a free kick with 7:35 left in the first half.

Junior Chris Hill (Watertown, N.Y.) made his first career start in goal and finished with four saves. Paul Dudek had 12 saves for the Bobcats (0-1, 0-1).
