(Oshawa, Ontario)- The SUNY Canton women's basketball team lost their opening game of the Durham College Big 8 Classic on Friday as they fell to Jamestown Community College 61-39. Durham College is located in Oshawa, Ontario, just outside of Toronto. The Roos will play Mohawk Valley Community College at 9 a.m. on Saturday in the consolation bracket.

Michelle Taylor (Rome, N.Y.) dropped in nine points to lead SUNY Canton. Lauren Ploof (Hammond, N.Y.) added eight points. Shannon LaFave (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) had seven points and five rebounds and Julie Vander Wiel (Malone, N.Y.) chipped in with six points.

The Jayhawks were led by Katie Landy who scored 12 points. Lacey Grove added 11 points and five rebounds and Taylor Lubi and Alexis Carlson each contributed eight points apiece.
