(Oshawa, Ontario)- The SUNY Canton women's basketball team won the consolation game of the Durham Big 8 Tournament Saturday afternoon with a 66-54 win over Durham College. The Roos had beaten Mohawk College of Hamilton, Ontario 94-40 earlier that morning to advance to the consolation game.

Lauren Ploof (Hammond, N.Y.), who joined the Roos in Oshawa after competing with SUNY Canton in the NAIA Women's Soccer Championship this past week in Daytona Beach, Fla., was named to the all-tournament team after scoring 25 points against Durham and 33 points against Mohawk College.

Shannon LaFave (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) added 12 points in the win over the host Lords. Michelle Taylor (Rome, N.Y.) scored seven points and Mindy Small (Ogdensburg, N.Y.), Alicia Abbey (Mayville, N.Y.) and Hannah Peck (Richville, N.Y.) each chipped in with six points apiece.

Durham was led by Meaghan O'Reilly who scored 14 points. Jill Leistra dropped in 13 points and Erin Emery had 11.

LaFave added 21 points and five rebounds in the Roos win over Mohawk College. Abbey contributed 12 points and Kristi Farrell (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) chipped in with nine.

Mohawk was led by Melissa Zwolak who scored 12 points and snagged six rebounds. Lisa Arnt had seven points and Stacey Bourque, Jenn Snider, and Safia Zane each had six points apiece.
