(Randolph Center, Vt.)- SUNY Canton made a successful debut in their Sunrise Conference opener on Saturday as they knocked off Vermont Technical College 60-51 in Randolph Center, Vt.

Julie Vander Wiel (Malone, N.Y.) scored a season-high 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Roos (1-0 Sunrise Conference, 1-4 overall).

Kristi Farrell (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) added 18 points for SUNY Canton. Shannon LaFave (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) scored 13 points and pulled in five boards and Lauren Ploof (Hammond, N.Y.) chipped in with nine points and six rebounds.

The Green Knights were led by Eliza Wakefield who notched a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Wakefield also blocked eight shots.

Shannon Leland added 10 points and eight rebounds and Ginny Purrier contributed six points and six rebounds for Vermont Tech.
