(Potsdam, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton women's basketball team dropped a 61-44 decision to Houghton College Friday night at Maxcy Hall at SUNY Potsdam. The Roos fell to 0-2 while the Highlanders improved to 3-2.

SUNY Canton was led by Shannon LaFave (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) who scored 17 points and snagged six rebounds.

Lauren Ploof (Hammond, N.Y.) added nine points and nine rebounds for the Roos. Michele Taylor (Rome, N.Y.) collected six points and four rebounds off the bench and Julie Vander Wiel (Malone, N.Y.) and Erin Tulip (Constable, N.Y.) each contributed four points apiece.

Houghton was guided by reserve Leah French who dropped in 13 points. Ashley Dupler notched a double-double with 11 points and 13 boards. Dupler also had four blocks and four steals. Rebecca Kallal added nine points and Lisa Skrypnik added seven points, eight rebounds and six assists.
