Small logo(Potsdam, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton women's basketball team took to the court for the first time in nearly a month on Tuesday and showed a bit of rust in a 60-51 loss to SUNY Potsdam in the first ever game between the two teams at Maxcy Hall. The Roos dropped to 0-4 while the Bears improved to 6-4.

Shannon LaFave (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) dropped in a game-high 19 points to lead the Roos who shot just 26 percent from the floor. LaFave also grabbed nine rebounds and made two steals.

Lauren Ploof (Hammond, N.Y.) added 13 points and six rebounds. Kristi Farrell (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) scored seven points including a 4-for-4 effort from the free throw line. Jackie Maynard (Brasher Falls, N.Y.), Megan Davis (Hammond, N.Y.) and Julie Vander Wiel (Malone, N.Y.) each contributed four points apiece.

Rachel Graf, Cortney Poirer, Maureen Curley, and Ashley Schaad each scored 11 points to lead the Bears. Graf and Curley also snagged seven rebounds and made three steals apiece.
