(Canton, N.Y.)- Sophomore guard Lauren Ploof (Hammond, N.Y.) has been named the Sunrise Conference Player of the Week and freshman forward Shannon LaFave (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) has been named the Rookie of the Week.

Both players were instrumental in guiding the Roos to conference wins over Vermont Technical College (60-51) and the College of St. Joseph (70-54).

Ploof averaged 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals and shot 9-for-11 from the free throw line against St. Joseph. Ploof also had 13 points and six boards against SUNY Potsdam earlier in the week.

LaFave averaged 10.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals over the weekend and dropped in a game-high 19 points and grabbed nine boards in the game against Potsdam.

SUNY Canton is currently 2-0 in the conference and 2-4 overall.
