Brittany Kenyon drives against the Golden Knights on Wednesday
Roos Lose to Clarkson 80-66

(Potsdam, N.Y.)- SUNY Canton couldn't recover from a slow start as they lost to Clarkson University 80-66 Wednesday night in a non-conference women's basketball game in Potsdam.
The Golden Knights (2-1) opened the game on a 22-4 run over the first eight minutes of the game. The Roos (0-4) eventually pulled within seven points twice in the final 1:30 of the first half behind two free throws from Jackie Maynard (Brasher Falls, N.Y.) and then a layup from Brittany Kenyon (Hammond, N.Y.) with 1:03 remaining.
Carey Turner nailed a three-pointer on Clarkson's next possession and the lead was 44-34 at halftime and that's the closest the Roos would come the rest of the night.
For the game the Roos shot 44 percent from the field and 69 percent from the free throw line while the Golden Knights shot 50 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the line.
Kenyon scored a team-high 14 points and had three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Kristi Farrell (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) added 10 points and three assists. Maynard finished with nine points and two rebounds. Mindy Small (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) also had nine points along with four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Michelle Reddinger led four Golden Knights in double figures with 16.
Katie Goldberg had 12 points, Turner had 11 and Ariana Czech added 10
points, three rebounds and three assists.
