Roos Upended By Ursuline 100-51

(Pepper Pike, Ohio)- Ursuline College had four players reach double figures in scoring as they handed the SUNY Canton women's basketball team a 100-51 defeat in the first round of the Ursuline College Tournament Saturday in Ohio.
The Roos (0-7) shot a season-high 75 percent from the free throw line (12 for 16) and out rebounded the Arrows 40-28 but couldn't overcome a 16-point halftime deficit and a strong second half by Ursuline. The Arrows scored 54 points in the final 20 minutes and shot 55 percent from the floor in the half.
Jackie Maynard (Brasher Falls, N.Y.) had 11 points and eight rebounds to lead the Roos. Mindy Small (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) added 10 points and five rebounds. Nicole Davidson (Rossie, N.Y.) came off the bench to contribute 10 points and three rebounds. Julie Vander Wiel (Malone, N.Y.) had six points and four boards and Teresa Morley (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) hauled in a career-high 11 rebounds.
Jessica Wood led the Arrows with 19 points, four rebounds and three
steals. Whitney Blackburn had 17 points, including five of the Arrows
15 3-pointers, and six assists. Jenna Tomaro added 16 points, 12 coming
from beyond the arc, and Ashlay Lewis had 10.
