Roos Fall to Houghton at Candy Cane Classic

(Houghton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton women's basketball team lost to Houghton College 67-31 Friday night in the first round of the Houghton College Candy Cane Christmas Classic. The Roos dropped to 0-8 and will play Point Park University on Saturday at 2 p.m. while the Highlanders improved to 5-0 and will face Mansfield University on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Jackie Maynard (Brasher Falls, N.Y.) led the Roos with 12 points and five rebounds. Shannon LaFave (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) added nine points and two rebounds and Mindy Small (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) chipped in with six points and three assists.
The Highlanders were led by Leah French who had 14 points and two rebounds.
Ashley Dupler added 12 points, six rebounds and four steals.
