Maynard Propels Roos Past St. Joseph 69-55

(Potsdam, N.Y.)- Jackie Maynard (Brasher Falls, N.Y.) scored a career-high 25 points and the SUNY Canton women's basketball team used a strong first half to post a 69-55 win over the College of St. Joseph Sunday afternoon at Clarkson. The Roos have won three out of their last four games improving to 6-2 in the Sunrise Conference and 7-13 overall.
SUNY Canton shot 48 percent from the floor in the first half and took a 32-23 lead into the locker room.
The Roos cooled off a bit in the second half but were able to hold off the Fighting Saints down the stretch.
Maynard also collected 15 rebounds, seven on the offensive end, for her second double-double of the season.
Shannon LaFave (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) added nine points for the Roos. Teresa Morley (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) grabbed 11 rebounds to go along with six points. Brittany Kenyon (Hammond, N.Y.) had six points, seven rebounds and four steals and Mindy Small (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) contributed four points, six rebounds and five assists.
The Fighting Saints were led by Michelle Thompson who had 19 points and eight rebounds. Stephanie Greeno added 13 points, six rebounds and four steals and Megan Giddings chipped in with 11 points and four rebounds.
