The 2007 Sunrise Conference Champions

(Paul Smiths, N.Y.)- Leslie Wilson (Rensselaer Falls, N.Y.) captured
the overall individual title helping the SUNY Canton women's cross country
team win the Sunrise Conference Championship Saturday at Paul Smith's
College.
The Roos recorded 21 total point to finish ahead of Paul Smith's who garnered 34 points. SUNY Canton will now move on to the NAIA Region IX meet next Saturday at Walsh College in North Canton, Ohio.
Wilson, who was battling leg injuries this past week, ran the 5K race in a time of 22:24 and finished well ahead of Paul Smith's Jessie Gardner, who came in second in a time of 23:53.
Katie Ordway (North Creek, N.Y.) placed third for the Roos in a time of 24:39 and Katie Hyla (Fulton, N.Y.) was right behind in a time of 25:13. The next finisher for the Roos was Danielle Mellon (Oneida, N.Y.), who overcame a hamstring injury to finish in seventh place in a time of 26:50. Daynelle Richards (South Ozone Park, N.Y.) rounded out the Roos team finishing in eighth place in a time of 26:52.
Wilson was named the Sunrise Conference Female Runner of the Year and Ordway was named the conference's Rookie of the Year and at a banquet held after the race. They were both joined on the all-conference team by Hyla and Mellon.
First-year coach Chris Marquart was named the Sunrise Conference Women's
Cross Country Coach of the Year.
